Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one part of the spectrum of treatments of Chinese medicine which can also include herbs, diet, exercise (Qigong, Taichi), TuiNa massage, cupping, moxibustion etc. The first Chinese medicine texts about acupuncture were written over 2,000 years ago, however Chinese medicine has been widely used in China for over 3,000 years.
According to Chinese medicine all diseases are caused by disharmonies and blockages in the flow of vital energy – qi. An acupuncturist is clearing any blockages by inserting ultra-fine needles at carefully chosen points along meridians. The aim is to stimulate body’s own healing response and restore its natural balance. The more this balance is achieved and maintained, the healthier you become.

Facial acupuncture offers a natural alternative to invasive cosmetic surgery or botox fillers. Cupping Therapy
Cupping is another popular treatment in TCM. The aim of cupping is to cause local congestion through the negative pressure created by a jar or a plastic cup applied onto skin. The vacuum inside the cup creates suction and gently draws qi and blood to the surface allowing the release of any blocking pathogens.
Sometimes cups are left in one position, at other times they may be moved – slide over the areas such as the back or shoulders. This method is simple, and the therapeutic effect can bring immediate relieve.
What can cupping do for me?
Cupping stimulates the flow of the qi and blood and therefore can be used in any conditions where there is qi and blood stagnation. It is particularly effective in treating colds and flu in early stages, but it can also be used for joint conditions such as shoulder, back, knee problems. It is widely used as an additional method in the treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion.
TuiNa Massage
TuiNa (‘twee-nah’) ‘push & grasp’ massage is one of the ancient healing arts of TCM, along with acupuncture and herbal medicine. As practised in China, it treats conditions that in the West would require an osteopath, chiropractor, physiotherapist, or sports therapist.
It is more effective than any of these since it works not only on the muscles and joints but also on a deeper level.
TuiNa works holistically to balance the flow of vital energy throughout the body, mind, and spirit. Pain is the result of stagnation in the pathways of the body – the meridians so the stimulation by applying pressure will result in releasing pain.
